I am currently approaching my five-year wedding anniversary, which also means I have been living in Croatia for five years – whaaaat, how did that happen?? As such, it seemed like a good time to reflect. After a year or so of living in Croatia, I wrote an article about the “truth behind the expat fairy tale”; it was the first time I spoke up about my struggles and the response was incredible – I had so many people reach out and say “oh, thank god it’s not just me!” It turns out, we were all feeling the same way, which made us all feel less alone in Struggleville.
