Hyatt Place Herndon/Dulles Airport-East Hotel Review

As part of my round the world trip using Aeroplan miles, we started off with an overnight layover at Washington Dulles airport. Wanting an airport hotel that was reasonably priced, we settled on the Hyatt Place Herndon/Dulles Airport-East. This Hyatt Place Herndon/Dulles Airport-East review will give an idea of the different amenities and features and hopefully help you decide if you want to stay here if you’re in the area.

Hyatt Place Herndon/Dulles Airport-East location

The Hyatt Place Herndon/Dulles Airport-East is located at 13711 Sayward Boulevard, Herndon, Virginia, 20171. It’s about a 10 minute drive from Dulles airport

Hyatt Place Herndon/Dulles Airport-East cost

Cash prices at the Hyatt Place Herndon/Dulles Airport-East range anywhere from $100 to $200 or more, depending on what is going on. On my dates, the cash price was around $160, and about $190 after tax.

This makes using points a great option. I booked this in April 2023 when this was a Category 1, meaning it only costs 5,000 points during normal week. I booked it during “peak” season (whatever that means), which meant that it cost me 6,500 points. Still, that represents about 2.9 cents per Hyatt point, which is an outstanding value.

Hyatt Place Herndon/Dulles Airport-East review – room

I reserved a 2 queen beds room at the Hyatt Place Herndon/Dulles Airport-East, which has the bed as well as a desk and a small sitting room with a couch.

It also has a small bathroom (the sink area is outside this room). Toiletries are the big pumps. Shower pressure was good and temperature was outstanding

Hyatt Place Herndon/Dulles Airport-East wifi and amenities

Wifi is complimentary in the lobby and in the guest rooms for World of Hyatt members. The Hyatt Place Herndon/Dulles Airport-East wifi was quite bad unfortunately. It would periodically disconnect and even when you connected it was hard to use, even for normal (non-streaming) use.

There is laundry that you have to pay for, meeting rooms and an indoor pool and a fitness center

I did not see a business center in the lobby, though I imagine that there is one there that I just missed since I was only there a short time.

Hyatt Place Herndon/Dulles Airport-East hotel review – parking

We took public transportation during our stay, so we did not have to park. The Hyatt Place Herndon/Dulles Airport-East does have self parking, which is $10 per day. They also offer a park and fly rate, and you’re expected to park in a particular section of the lot if you are using the park and fly (see picture below)

Hyatt Place Herndon/Dulles Airport-East breakfast is complimentary, however I was not able to take any pictures of that breakfast specifically. I’ll include a “stock” photo of some of the breakfasts that I’ve had at other Hyatt Place hotels, since in my experience with Hyatt Place hotels, they are pretty much the same. It had your standard fare of eggs, hash browns, rotating different meats (sausage, bacon, etc) and French Toast sticks, along with various cold items and juices.

There is also an (overpriced) market by the lobby that has various items. We were given 2 bottles of water from this collection as our “elite” benefit.

Overall this was a good stay if you are looking for a reasonably priced Washington Dulles airport hotel . I would mostly recommend it on points but if you can pick it up on a cheap cash rate it’s super convenient to most things in the area thanks to public transportation.
