As our first stop in Phuket, we had chosen Karon Beach, a beautiful white-sandy three km long beach on the west coast of Phuket. Karon has long been among the most popular of Phuket’s beaches, along with neighboring Patong Beach (to the north) and Kata Beach (to the south).

As we arrived at our hotel relatively late, we immediately dropped off our luggage and wandered down to the ocean to enjoy the sunset and check out the beach. The long stretch of soft white sand that appeared before us was everything we had hoped for. Standing there barefoot in the sand watching the sky turn pink as the sun slowly set on the ocean, we knew that the long hours of traveling to get here had been worth it.
