Back in July, we wrote a post covering the $475 million settlement that Equifax had agreed to from their data breach in 2017. You had to go to the Equifax settlement eligibility site, sign up and then you could choose either free credit monitoring or a $125 settlement in lieu of credit monitoring.
Unsurprisingly, with tons of blogs posting about it and even Congresswomen tweeting about it, the response was overwhelming, so much so that the settlement website added a section to their FAQ
“If there are more than $31 million claims for Alternative Reimbursement Compensation, all payments for Alternative Reimbursement Compensation will be lowered and distributed on a proportional basis.”
