Visit Dracula at Bran Castle in Transylvania, Romania

Although more than hundred years have passed since Bram Stoker wrote his famous vampire novel Dracula set in Transylvania, Romania, the region continues to attract tourist attention. Known for its mountains, forests and castles, I could understand why Transylvania was the perfect setting for the horror theme of Stoker’s book. While there are a few castles and places in the region associated with the legend of Dracula, it is believed that Bran Castle somewhat matches the description of the Dracula castle in the novel. In summer, crowds including fans of the novel and the movies based on it throng the castle. Despite the fact that the novel is fictional and the castle is now a museum dedicated to the Romanian royal family, people are still curious to learn more about the Dracula. And to find out if there is any truth to the presumed real-life inspiration behind it–Vlad the Impaler also known as Vlad Dracul.
