Last month I stayed at the Le Meridien Boston Cambridge for an activity that I was taking part in over near the MIT campus.

I don’t often pay for my hotel stays (instead preferring to redeem hotel points for free stays) but the math on this stay just didn’t make sense. The Le Meridien Boston Cambridge is a Marriott Category 6, which means that it takes 50,000 points per night for a standard redemption (40,000 or 60,000 for off-peak and peak, respectively). I believe this was an off-peak redemption night, so it would have cost me 40,000 points for each of the 3 nights I was planning on staying…
