AA is no longer hiding the cheapest mile flights. What they’re doing might be worse

Recently, American Airlines introduced “Web Saver” mile fares, where they would also offer some fares that were lower than the traditional 12,500 miles for a one way domestic flight within the United States.

When they were first introduced, Miles to Memories (among others) noted that AA didn’t show these lower prices by default, instead defaulting you to the regular Mile SAAver prices. It’s a week or so since that post came out, but when I logged on to check a flight today, I noticed that AA.com DID default me to the Web Special flights.

 

Where are the cheap fares?

I did find a 6K flight on Page 2

and a 6.5K on Page 3
