Wyndham ending “no award chart” (surprise… good hotels going up in price)

Several years ago, Wyndham became the only major hotel chain to move to a “fixed price” model, where every hotel in the chain (including timeshares!) cost 15,000 points per night. This had the effect that you could get outsized value at more premium locations. When I stayed at the Wyndham Wingate Manhattan, my 15,000 points saved me nearly $300!

Changes going in effect April 3rd

As you might imagine, this one-size fits all strategy was not sustainable, and back in November, we rumored that they might be changing their model. Turns out that was a good rumor, as they announced this morning that starting April 3rd they would be moving to a chart where hotels cost either 7,500, 15,000 or 30,000 points.
