It’s not just the tourists that flock to Sardinia each year, leaving flushed by the summer sun. Large colonies of spectacular pink flamingos are now a regular sight along the lagoons of Molentargius Saline Regional Park in Cagliari where thousands come to nest and raises their young in the lagoons. Oristano on the west coast is another favoured gathering places for these elegant wading birds who can be seen feeding on the algae and crustaceans of the salt pans during the day before taking to the skies in a dazzling evening display.
